Welcome to the Carolina Beach Ocean Rescue WebSite. Carolina Beach Lifeguards have been serving Pleasure Island since 1930's. Having grown ever larger over the years, Carolina Beach now staffs the 4.5 Miles of shoreline with 33 seasonal lifeguards and 1 full time position.

Carolina Beach Ocean Rescue Season operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Monday through Thursday hours are 9:45am until 4:45pm. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are 9:45am until 6:45pm. Some ATV Patrols may exceed the hours listed.

The three miles of beach strand are monitored utilizing 12 fixed lifeguard stands and 3 ATV patrol units. This will be the first season the Freeman Park Area (North End), 1.5 Miles of open beach for vehicular traffic, will be guarded using 5 ATV patrol units and 1 mobile trailer stand.  Two Pickups are also used for Freeman Park patrols.

The inlet, harbor, and waters off of the beach strand are patrolled using a PWC with sled and patrol boat operated by the Carolina Beach Police Dept.

Carolina Beach's waters and area are also covered by Carolina Beach Fire Dept and Federal Point Fire Dept. A New Hanover Regional Medical Center EMS Station is also located on Carolina Beach with a water rescue vehicle.
The Carolina Beach Ocean Rescue Program is a recognized certified agenice of the USLA (United States Lifesaving Association). USLA is a professional association of beach lifeguards and open water rescuers. USLA works to reduce the incidence of death and injury in the aquatic environment through public education, national lifeguard standards, training programs, promotion of high levels of lifeguard readiness, and other means.

Carolina Beach Ocean Rescue is located in the South Atlantic Lifesaving Association Region. This is a region of USLA that spans from Virgina Beach, VA south to Daytona Beach, FL. Carolina Beach is honored this year for the first time ever to be hosting the Regional Competition, July 16th & 17th. This will be a great opportunity to showcase lifeguard talent as well as the beauty of the North Carolina Coast and Pleasure Island.
